Ice forecasts for the Great Lakes issued by Environment Canada at
12:00 P.M. EDT Sunday 12 April 2026 for today tonight and Monday.
The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 12:00 P.M. Monday.

Western Lake Superior.
Open water except 2 tenths thick lake ice along parts of the
southwestern shore and north of Isle Royale. Consolidated rotten
thick lake ice in southern Chequamegon Bay. Consolidated very thick
lake ice in Black Bay, Nipigon Bay and Thunder Bay. 

Eastern Lake Superior.
Open water except 2 tenths thick lake ice along parts of the
southern shores. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along parts of
the southern shore. 

Whitefish Bay.
5 tenths thick lake ice. Consolidated thick lake ice in the extreme
eastern and southern sections. 

North Channel.
Consolidated thick lake ice. 

Northern Lake Huron.
Open water except 1 tenth thick lake ice in the northwestern
section. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along parts of the
shore. 

Southern Lake Huron
Lake St. Clair
Western Lake Erie.
Ice free. 

Northern Georgian Bay.
1 tenth thick lake ice except 9 tenths thick lake ice along the
northeastern shore. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along parts
of the shore. 

Southern Georgian Bay.
Open water except 5 tenths thick lake ice along the northeastern
shore. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along parts of the shore. 

Eastern Lake Erie.
Open water except 9 tenths thick lake ice near Buffalo. 

Lake Ontario.
Ice free. 

Northern Lake Michigan.
Open water except 2 tenths thick lake ice north of Fox Islands.
Consolidated rotten thick lake ice in and near the Straits of
Mackinac. 

Southern Lake Michigan.
Ice free. 

Green Bay.
1 tenth thick lake ice. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice in Bays
de Noc.
