Ice forecasts for the Great Lakes issued by Environment Canada at
12:00 P.M. EDT Wednesday 1 April 2026 for today tonight and
Thursday.
The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 12:00 P.M. Thursday.

Western Lake Superior.
2 tenths thick lake ice except 9 tenths thin lake ice including 3
tenths thick lake ice near parts of the northwestern shore.
Consolidated thick lake ice along parts of the southern shore.
Consolidated very thick lake ice in Black Bay, Nipigon Bay and
Thunder Bay. 

Eastern Lake Superior.
Open water except 7 tenths thick lake ice in the extreme eastern
section and southeast of Michipicoten Island. 9 tenths thick lake
ice along parts of the southern shore. Consolidated thick lake ice
along parts of the southern shore. 

Whitefish Bay.
7 tenths thick lake ice. Consolidated thick lake ice in the
southwestern and eastern sections. 

North Channel.
Consolidated thick lake ice. 

Northern Lake Huron.
1 tenth thick lake ice except 9 tenths thick lake ice along parts of
the western shore. Consolidated thick lake ice along parts of the
shore. 

Southern Lake Huron.
Open water except 8 tenths thick lake ice near parts of the
northeastern shore. Consolidated thick lake ice along parts of the
northeastern shore. 

Northern Georgian Bay.
6 tenths thick lake ice. Consolidated thick lake ice along parts of
the shore. 

Southern Georgian Bay.
2 tenths thick lake ice except 7 tenths thick lake ice in the
northern section. Consolidated thick lake ice along parts of the
shore. 

Lake St. Clair
Western Lake Erie.
Ice free. 

Eastern Lake Erie.
Open water except 9 tenths thick lake ice in the extreme eastern
section. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along parts of the
eastern shore. 

Western Lake Ontario.
Ice free. 

Eastern Lake Ontario.
Open water except 1 tenth thick lake ice in the extreme northeastern
section. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along parts of the
northeastern shores. 

Northern Lake Michigan.
Open water except 7 tenths thick lake ice north of and east of Fox
Islands. Consolidated thick lake ice in and near the Straits of
Mackinac. 

Southern Lake Michigan.
Ice free. 

Green Bay.
2 tenths thick lake ice except 8 tenths thick lake ice south of
Chambers Island. Consolidated thick lake ice in Bays de Noc.
